>Sketch Every Day: 5.5.11

>

Saw this featured garden/backyard of a 1930’s California home in the May issue of Traditional Home and felt like sketching the lovely fountain and potted flowers. I’ve always liked decorations, carved plaster ornamentation, fountains, door-knockers, etc. with the lion’s head motif. Maybe because my husband, Aaron, and son, Mason, are both Leos? Now I should do a sketch for me and Isaac, since we’re both Scorpios.

When I opened up my watercolor set to start this sketch, Isaac (4) grabbed a sheet of paper and a brush and we painted together, side by side. I love these moments.
